OUR PLATFORM

"Most importantly, we have been and will continue to be advocates for the students of this University. As President and Vice President, you can expect from us your full attention and support. We will strengthen the CSU community by ensuring there is No Ram Left Behind, by Bridging the Gap between students and University administrators by using our position to make them more accessible to individual students and not just our administration, and help tackle food insecurity on campus by spreading awareness about and allocating more funding to the already existing programs like Rams Against Hunger. Our greatest desire is to foster a safe and supportive community that ensures you will get the education you came here for."
LIST OF ISSUES
Community Building for Unity

We recognize this may be the toughest semester in CSU's history to make friends and meet new people. Nevertheless, it is of utmost importance that we strive to build a strong community on this campus. Our team will represent all students, including Veteran students, adult learners, international students, and many other facets of the student body that are sometimes not represented. Because of these unprecedented times, we must move forward by building community virtually, wherever possible.

We will host a University Administrator on a Zoom link to have your questions answered directly. President Joyce McConnell is a very busy woman, AND, it is worth considering that she is not the only administrator on this campus. We will facilitate meetings between students and the Deans of their Colleges and other administrators on campus so that students feel well connected. The beautiful thing about a mostly virtual semester is the ability to host large group settings safely from our own homes, and our team will utilize and facilitate that.

We will also create a platform for students who don't feel comfortable speaking on virtual platforms to voice their concerns. A survey will be made available to students where they can share their contact information, their concern, and who that concern is directed at. Our team will be the bridge between that individual student and someone who can hear their concerns.

Furthermore, we will host a University wide Zoom link where the ASCSU President jumps on a Zoom call to meet with students, ask how they're doing, and ask what they need from University leadership to improve their experience. This will give students an opportunity to connect with our leadership team and with one another.

Finally, for building community on our campus, community service is one of the best ways to get involved. While the time of the COVID-19 pandemic will make some of these community service activities certainly look different, it is possible to plan these events with physical distancing in mind. We will work closely with the SLiCE office to help provide the best community service opportunities available and ensure that this school year is not lost for CSU students.

Our Promise of Tangibility

Our commitment to the student body is to run on and facilitate real change to our campus, for the betterment of everyone's experience. We have selected issues that require our direct and immediate attention, and issues that have tangible solutions within our campaign.

Food Insecurity

Particularly during a once in a century pandemic, we as a team are most conscious of Rams who are experiencing food insecurity. Eradicating food insecurity on campus is one of our top priorities.

Fortunately, there are many already existing programs run through the SLiCE office that are already committed to working on this issue. The way we plan to solve this issue is to spread awareness about the various resources that are already available to students. For example, these resources include the Food Bank that comes to campus three times a week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, for 3-4 hours at a time. By broadcasting the Food Banks hours through ASCSU more students will be able to access those resources. Another resource is the SNAPs program which offers between $100-200 a month in food credit if you qualify for work study or work 20+ hours a week. These are just a few small examples that can make an impact on a student's life. Our team is committed to working hand in hand with these initiatives to make sure students get the resources they need to pursue their education to its fullest extent.

We plan to spread awareness is large marketing campaigns that will reach thousands of students at CSU. We will also commit funding to these programs to ensure that Rams who are experiencing food insecurity, especially during a global pandemic, can have access to the resources they need.

Advocacy

Another one of our primary reasons for running is to be an advocate on behalf of the students of CSU and to bridge the gap between students and administration. We will always welcome your concerns with our full attention and support and then voice those concerns to the University administrators. We are here to serve you. As your fellow students at CSU, we want to foster a safe and thriving community where everyone knows that they can get the education they desire. A major part of this is knowing and feeling that you are supported by the administration of this university.

We will individually and systematically advocate for you by working with administrators to create policies that are in the best interest of you: the student. These policies will be centered around making CSU a more equitable and inclusive university, while maintaining respect for all members of our community. These policies will mostly include advocating for more service opportunities centered around social justice in the CSU and Fort Collins community.
