Get to Know Your Candidate
First thing you should know about me is that I am very passionate about keeping my mind healthy and happy; sometimes that means playing spikeball with my friends, cooking a good dinner, or even just taking a relaxing day trip up to the mountains. Second thing is that I absolutely adore my family, especially my baby brother (see right). A couple other things to know about me is that this is my third year at CSU, I am a psychology major, and my favorite time of day is 11PM.
Qualifications and Experience
Throughout my time at CSU, I have always loved being involved. My first job on campus was as an IM sports referee and my second was as an orientation leader. Now, I'm working as an involvement advisor through the SLiCE office. This wide range of jobs has given me the opportunity to meet thousands of students across campus, listen to their stories, and direct them to the things they are most passionate about. These jobs have also taught me important lessons on leadership and how something as small as a "Hi, nice to meet you" can change someone's day. This is why, as president, you can expect a heavy emphasis on community building from our team.
Why WE are Running
We are running because we truly believe in building community at CSU. We are running because we believe we can bridge the gap between the students and the administration of CSU. We are running because we believe we can help make CSU a more warm and welcoming community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. In our time at CSU, every job we have taken on has been dedicated to this task, and without a doubt, we know that this community will be stronger than ever at the end of our tenure in office. How do we know this? Because we have ideas and plans to take action on those ideas to make them a reality (see our platform page for the plan).
Get to Know Your Candidate
My name is Merry Gebretsadik and I’m in my third year here at Colorado State University. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I am a political science major with a concentration in global politics and policy as well as a minor in ethnic studies. I’m from Littleton, Colorado and I love exploring the beautiful mountains and enjoy hiking. I also love binging shows and movies on Netflix in my free time so I’m always open to recommendations!
Qualifications and Experience
When I first came to CSU, I was very hesitant about not being able to find my own community. However, by joining various organizations such as the College of Liberal Arts Ambassador team, Associated Students of Colorado State University, Model UN, Orientation and Transition Programs, as well as the Presidential Ambassador team, I was able to challenge myself and thrive when it came to my leadership journey. Through my time at CSU, I have also been able to work as a Resident Assistant which has allowed me to strengthen my communication skills as well as serve the community by assisting first-year students in their transition. Being part of these organizations at CSU has granted me with amazing opportunities that I will forever be thankful for.
Why WE are Running
I am running to be Vice President of ASCSU because throughout my three years of being part of ASCSU, I want to make a long-lasting impact on our community through expanding awareness on issues that affect students while taking the necessary steps to find tangible solutions.
